Sunday 27th March

For the first time in a number of weeks the guys outnumbered the girls at Fragola yesterday morning. Jill and Janet were on Rugby duties but they had already ridden to Summertrees with Russ on Saturday.

So Jude and Jenny set off for the Priest House in Audlem via the ramp at Madeley and Bar Hill. Unfortunately for once the guys went in entirely the opposite direction heading for Whitegate, Kingsley and Delamere before heading off for a few more hills in the direction of Beeston Castle.

Just at the time when the two groups were at there most distant, and whilst climbing Bar Hill Jude had a puncture and all those coffee table discussions about fixing punctures etc became a reality. A phone call or two also demonstrated the limitations of a small "emergency" pump which couldn't be attached to the valve. Fortunately a passing cyclist ( fortunate in two senses. First that he was one of the few local cyclists not riding the Cheshire Cat. Second he was not riding the Cheshire cat because he had overslept following the change in clocks, otherwise he would have been riding the Cheshire Cat) was able to help replace a tube, remove the thorn stuck in the tyre and get them back on track. We have it on good authority that despite arriving at the Priest House in Audlem later than scheduled the fruit cake was still as moist as ever.

Meanwhile somewhere in mid / west Cheshire a group of six including five of the Rocket Riders were making their way from Beeston to Bunbury and home via Church Minshull against a seemingly endless flow of Cheshire Cat riders some doing the 100Mile route and others splitting off near Church Minshull to complete the 67Mile route.

Needless to say our long standing most social of social members was on hand at Fragola to greet us and share with us coffee. Jude and Jenny duly arrived after their long day.

As the evenings now start to get lighter, please feel free to email the group to see if anyone wants a short ride any evening, and of course see you at Fragola next Sunday.
